What inspired this post? Honestly, I saw one of my friends post this scripture and it really stood out to me. At the time, I never heard it before. It convicted me and reminded me the importance of not competing, but instead to complete the tasks and calling God placed on our heart.

The next step after comparing, is competing. Competition in itself is not a bad thing. However, whenever you mentally start competing with the calling God placed on your heart against someone else doing something similar…..you run the risk of losing. Not losing in your self-made “competition,” but losing in the reason for your purpose. At the heart of every dream the purpose should never be self. The purpose should always be others. Your dream is meant to encourage, inspire, motivate, sharpen, develop, and uplift others, and bring glory to God in the process. It’s not to try to be the best for selfish reasons, it’s to be YOUR best to fulfill the calling God placed on your heart. There’s no reason to compare. There’s no reason to compete. The goal should be to complete the tasks God placed on your heart with fidelity, passion, and with a willingness to love and serve others. This scripture really spoke to me personally, and was a good reminder that we should never be at the center of our dreams. Also comparing and competing against others should never be a motivating factor. What should keep us motivated is God’s will and purpose for our life!
