The tragedy in Vegas and Parkland.

Evil is showing its ugly face, and screaming loud and clear…if only good could find the courage and boldness to not hide, but to shed its light to this dark evil world, but not in a divisive, I’m better than you type of way, because that too can become evil. It is obvious that hate and evil are accomplished through people of all different colors and backgrounds. Well, I still believe love and light operates in different people of various backgrounds as well. It may seem we are out numbered in size, and even if that’s true, I believe light and goodness is stronger in might. However, the evil in this world wants us to be divided, arguing and hating each other for our differences. We have to be wiser than the garbage shoved down our throats, and realize there is a bigger battle of good and evil. Meanwhile we are here distracted by the minor unnecessary battles of standing and kneeling, democrat and republican, and so many other things this world has made us argue over. Religion, race, sexuality and so much more. The truth is evil can come from Republicans, evil can come from Democrats, Evil can come from those who stand, and evil can come from those who kneel. Guess what? Good can come from Republicans, good can come from Democrats, good can come from the ones who choose to stand or kneel. These little things don’t really matter! But when a sick man wakes up and decides to kill over 50 people, and injure hundreds, that matters! Don’t get me wrong when evil cops (we all know and love the amazing ones)kill innocent black men and there are no consequences and that is televised, that matters, and that is part of the reason for kneeling to bring awareness to the injustices. I also understand why some are passionate about standing as well. If you had a family member who died fighting for our country and you see the flag as a sign of respect then I understand why you stand. My point is to respect those that choose to kneel and realize the heart and reason behind it. Also understand those who choose to stand and understand the heart and reason behind it. Empathy allows us to understand where others are coming from and love them even if we disagree. We live in a world that says if you don’t think like me then I hate you. If you let hate consume you it leads to division, and hate is the cause of all this foolishness going on. People don’t know if I’m a democrat or republican, or an independent, but anyone who knows me knows I love Jesus and I love people. Unfortunately so many people twists the word of God to fit their opinions, and that breaks my heart. I’ve heard with my own ears Christians say you can not be a Christian if you are a Republican and others say you can’t be a Christian if you are a Democrat. For real?? Seriously?? Or is that your your opinion? Truth is there are scriptures and stories in the bible that people can manipulate and say this is why Trump should not be president, or this is why he should. When the text is taken out of CONtext, it becomes a con. My point is we can’t use scripture to back up our opinions, but we can use it for what it was intended for. To love others and to point them to the source of our love. Apparently I had a lot bottled up….How did this evil in Vegas cause me to vent like this about topics I stay away from? It made me realize I can’t keep my mouth shut, and while this world will try and trick us to thinking there are only 2 sides, God gave me wisdom to realize that empathy and love is the another choice that will allow us not to hate one another for our differences, but to LOVE despite our differences. As to this horrible tragedy in Vegas…my heart and mind can not comprehend the magnitude of evil that consumed this man and what caused him to do this. This morning I was crying after hearing this, and James asked what’s wrong and my response was, “This world.” It reminded me of these lyrics I wrote years ago, “I wish I could bottle up the pain in this world and watch it just sail away. I wish I could bottle up the pain in this world, but all my wishing won’t change a thing. So I’ll write about the pain of this world, I’ll write ’til the pain goes away, I’ll write about the pain in this world. I’ll write ’til I make a change.” If my little writing can help one person choose love instead of hate then it was worth writing and posting this. Something has to change! As Bob Marley said, “The people doing evil in this world never take a day off. Why should we? Light up the darkness.” God help our country!

This was written February 16, 2018 after the Parkland Tragedy…
The past 2 days, we had to get really real with all of our kids. I always have tried to protect them and shelter them. (I’m the mom who tells them to close their eyes when an inappropriate commercial comes on.) However, I realized that is no longer an option. I spoke to them about evil, racism, drugs, sex, peer pressure, death, guns, violence, mental illness, and I cried in front of them, told them I Iove them all, and that evil is real. However, I also spoke with them about being a light, not fearing anything not even death, trusting God is in control when things are chaotic. I also listened to them, about their thoughts and feelings with everything going on. This is the world we live in, but it is not all evil. It’s a mixture of light and dark, good and evil, and it is time for the light to shine now more than ever! My heart hurts so bad for this world
Honestly, I wish I could not move for a few days. However, as parents we have to teach our kids to be a light in the darkness. We have to do our best to lay a firm foundation, because you don’t know what the kids they go to school with or even their friends at school are exposed to. I’m talking more with them, listening more to them, loving and hugging more, and reading and praying more. Still in shock, still heartbroken, still praying for these families, but making time to make memories with every single one of our children. Love NyNy’s shirt….”Shine Bright as the Stars!”
